Corbin, the singer-songwriter widely recognized by his stage name, first made waves in the music scene back in 2014 with his emotionally charged track “Without You” and its accompanying music video. That release really put Corbin on the map, even though it sparked some discussion due to its visuals—specifically, Corbin, a middle-class white artist, appearing in a do-rag and gold chains, which stirred mild controversy at the time. Despite the debate, Corbin continued to build his presence in the industry and eventually became part of thestand4rd, a dynamic music collective based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Growing up as an only child in a predominantly white community in Saint Paul, Corbin’s background shaped much of his early experiences. Over the years, Corbin has evolved both personally and artistically, staying true to his roots while navigating the complexities of fame and identity.
He’s always been deeply involved with the other members of thestand4rd—Allan Kingdom, Psymun, and Bobby Raps—constantly collaborating and creating together. Over time, he toured alongside Psymun, showcasing not only group efforts but also his own solo material. In 2015, he joined forces with Bobby Raps under the name Corbin to release the EP Couch Potato, marking a key moment in his artistic journey. He really made a name for himself through these consistent partnerships, especially within the tight-knit circle of thestand4rd. His work with them, particularly on that project, highlighted his versatility and commitment to evolving his sound.
