MiniBio

Before he was known for taking down hordes of ravenous zombies and facing off against terrifying werewolves, vampires, and other monstrous beings on the big screen, Shawn Roberts made a name for himself as the notorious Dean Walton in the hit Canadian teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation. As a high school rapist, Walton was a major figure in season two and made a memorable return in season four, establishing Roberts as a compelling young actor with a flair for complex characters.

Much of Shawn Roberts’ career has revolved around genre films, particularly within the horror realm. He appeared in George Romero’s post-apocalyptic zombie films Land of the Dead and Diary of the Dead, where he played one of the desperate survivors clinging to life amidst the undead chaos. He also squared off against bloodthirsty vampires alongside Lorenzo Lamas in the Canadian horror flick Blood Angels, and portrayed a conflicted, non-malevolent werewolf in the supernatural thriller Skinwalkers. In addition, Roberts made a guest appearance in a 2009 episode of the popular series Supernatural, further expanding his genre credentials.

While often cast as the hero, Roberts enjoyed the chance to play the villain—most notably the manipulative and sinister Albert Wesker in Resident Evil: Afterlife, a role that allowed him to stretch his acting range. He also took on a small but impactful role in the grim 2010 Mel Gibson thriller Edge of Darkness, and continued to build his television presence with guest spots on Being Erica and The Firm.

In 2012, Shawn Roberts returned to the Resident Evil universe, reprising his role as the calculating Wesker in Resident Evil: Retribution, further cementing his place in the franchise and proving his versatility across both film and television.

Trivia

Shawn Roberts has appeared in a variety of films throughout his career, but one of his most acclaimed roles came in the 2022 movie Here for Blood, which stands out as his highest-rated film to date. On the other hand, one of his earlier performances in Chasing Holden (2001) received notably lower ratings, marking it as the least favorably reviewed film in his filmography. While Shawn Roberts has certainly had a range of successes on screen, these two films represent the extremes in terms of audience and critical reception.
