A long-standing Dancing with the Stars professional, he first appeared in season 2 of the Australian edition back in 2005. His journey then brought him to the U.S., where he became part of the DWTS Troupe in 2011, before officially stepping into the role of a pro dancer in 2013.
Before all the fame, his passion for dance began at a young age—just 13 years old. Originally born in Russia, he relocated to Australia with his family in 1986 after the Chernobyl nuclear incident. He has a sister, Svetlana Shapshal, who has been part of his personal journey throughout the years.
On a more personal note, he found love within the Dancing with the Stars family—engaging with fellow cast member Emma Slater in 2016. Their relationship blossomed, and they tied the knot in March 2018. However, in August 2022, the couple shared the news of their separation, marking the end of a significant chapter in their lives.
He really showed off his dancing skills at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney.
