Young actor Karan Brar quickly rose to fame back in 2010 when he landed a supporting role in the blockbuster comedy film Diary of a Wimpy Kid. In the movie, he portrayed Chirag Gupta, an Indian-American middle school student, which brought him into the spotlight. Interestingly, even though Karan Brar was born and raised in the U.S. and is fluent in both English and Punjabi, he had to adopt a distinct Indian accent for the character.
He later reprised the role of Chirag in the 2011 sequel, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, and again in the third film of the wildly successful series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days.
In addition to his work in the film series, Karan Brar also became a familiar face on television through his role as Ravi Ross in the Disney Channel sitcom Jessie. His character, an adopted child from India, was specifically written with Karan in mind, showcasing his growing influence and appeal as a young actor.
Karan Brar has been part of several movies throughout his career, but one that really stands out is The Argument (2020), which happens to be his highest-rated film so far. On the flip side, not all of his projects received the same level of acclaim—The F**k-It List (2020), for instance, ended up being his lowest-rated movie. While Karan Brar continues to explore different roles and genres, these two films represent the opposite ends of his acting journey in terms of audience reception.
