Kaitlin Olson is perhaps best known for her role as Sweet Dee on the FX series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, where she starred alongside Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, and Danny DeVito. In addition to her work on It’s Always Sunny, she has also appeared on popular shows like The Drew Carey Show and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Later in her career, she took on a leading role in FOX’s The Mick, further showcasing her comedic talent.
Before she became a household name, Kaitlin went through a tough experience during her freshman year of high school when a horrific bicycle accident forced her to shave her head. In response, she pushed herself to become more outgoing and confident, a trait that would later serve her well in the entertainment industry. She was born in Tigard, Oregon, and her father, Don Olsen, previously worked as a publisher for the Portland Tribune.
On September 27, 2008, Kaitlin married her It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-star Rob McElhenney. Together, they welcomed their first son, Axel, in 2010, followed by a second son, Leo, in 2012.
After spending some time working with The Groundings comedy troupe in Los Angeles, she began to gain recognition and eventually landed several Hollywood auditions. Among those opportunities was an audition for the popular show Punk’d, which marked a significant step in her entertainment career. Being part of The Groundings helped her build the confidence and skills needed to stand out in the competitive world of showbiz. Her time with The Groundings truly set the stage for what would come next.
