The guitarist and vocalist for the indie folk band The Head and The Heart, he’s been a central figure in shaping the group’s sound since its early days. He actually cofounded the band alongside Josiah Johnson, laying the foundation for what would become a beloved name in the indie music scene. Before all the fame and touring, life looked a little different—he made the move to Seattle on a bit of a leap of faith. A friend he used to work with, Nicole, offered him four months of free housing, which gave him the chance to settle in and focus on his music. Originally hailing from Richmond, Virginia, he’s stayed connected to his roots even as his career took off. On the personal side, he shares his life with his wife Lauren, whom he married back in 2015, and together they’ve built a family, raising two daughters. Being a dad is clearly one of the roles he values most, right alongside his identity as the frontman of The Head and The Heart.
He often hung out at a pub named Conor Byrne, and that’s really where everything began. It was at Conor Byrne that the band first started to take shape, with him being a regular face around the place. Over time, those visits to Conor Byrne turned into something much bigger—something that would define their musical journey. So, in a way, Conor Byrne wasn’t just a pub; it was the birthplace of the whole idea, all sparked by his presence there.
