Jon Lajoie, born on August 21, 1980, in Montreal, Canada, was the third child in a family of nine. He completed his studies at Dawson College in Montreal in 2001. Before breaking into film and television, Lajoie first gained recognition online. As a stand-up comedian, he started uploading short films and comedic songs to YouTube in 2007, quickly amassing a large following. Songs like “Everyday Normal Guy,” which has garnered over 30 million views, helped push his channel past 100 million total views in a short time.
In 2009, Jon Lajoie released a studio album titled You Want Some of This, which compiled many of his popular YouTube songs. That same year, he landed his first major acting role as Taco Macarthur in the comedy series The League (FX, 2009–15), where he played one of the eccentric members of a fantasy football league. His character, much like his online persona, was known for being laid-back, not particularly bright, and a bit crude—a singer-songwriter with questionable habits. Lajoie continued to build on this persona through YouTube videos and, in 2010, released a second album called I Kill People.
In addition to his digital and musical work, Jon Lajoie also expanded into film. He had a small but memorable role in the 2014 comedy Let’s Be Cops, further showcasing his comedic talents on the big screen.
Jon Lajoie has been part of several movies, shows, and music projects over the years, but if we look at the ratings, one of his standout works is Moments of Clarity from 2015. That particular project tends to be his highest rated when fans and critics look back at his filmography. On the flip side, not every project he’s been involved in has received the same level of praise—Let’s Be Cops, released in 2014, is often cited as his lowest rated film to date. Still, Jon Lajoie continues to be recognized for his comedic talent and unique contributions to entertainment.
