Not long after Irish actor Jacob McCarthy graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 2014, he started landing professional opportunities. Throughout his three years at LAMDA, McCarthy had only performed on stage, but that changed when he made his screen debut in an episode of the comedy web series “Foursome” (YouTube Red 2016–). Following this initial step into the world of screen acting, Jacob McCarthy quickly moved on to his feature film debut in “The Drummer and the Keeper” (2017). In this film, he portrayed a teenager with Asperger’s syndrome who forms a unique and unexpected bond with a wild, unpredictable musician. In addition to this standout role, McCarthy also secured a spot on the sitcom “A.P. Bio” (NBC 2018–), a high school comedy starring Glenn Howerton and Patton Oswalt, and brought to life by creators Seth Meyers, Mike O’Brien, and Lorne Michaels.
So, when it comes to Jacob McCarthy’s filmography, things really started to pick up with The Drummer and the Keeper in 2017—that one definitely stands out as Jacob McCarthy’s highest rated movie. It received a lot of praise for its heartfelt storytelling and strong performances, which helped solidify Jacob McCarthy’s reputation in the indie film scene. On the other hand, not every project hit the same high notes. For instance, The Last Summer, released in 2019, ended up being Jacob McCarthy’s lowest rated film to date. While it had its moments, it just didn’t resonate with critics or audiences quite like his earlier work. Still, considering Jacob McCarthy’s trajectory, there’s plenty of potential for future roles to shift that balance again.
