She is a convicted criminal and a widely recognized public figure, primarily known for the horrifying act of stabbing her mother, Yun Mi Hoy, a staggering 79 times. Following the incident, she pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity and was ultimately committed to the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo.
