A talented Japanese musician and singer/songwriter, he rose to prominence as a key member of the Hokkaido-based rock band Sakanaction. Before he became widely known, he started his musical journey by forming a band with his high school friends back in 1998, drawing inspiration from British rock. His early exposure to music came through his father, who ran a cafe and bar that regularly hosted live performances, helping shape his passion for the art.
Back in 2010, he experienced a significant change when he lost hearing in his right ear. It was a turning point that impacted his daily life in ways he hadn’t expected. He had to adapt to new challenges, especially since the hearing loss was permanent. Over time, he learned how to manage it, but it wasn’t easy at first. He often reflects on how things were before 2010, when he could hear clearly on both sides. Still, he remains resilient and focused on what he can control. He’s come a long way since then, adjusting his routines and staying proactive about his health. He continues to raise awareness about hearing issues because he knows firsthand how sudden such changes can be. He believes sharing his story helps others who might be going through something similar.
