Miss Honey, the mother of the gospel duo Mary Mary, has become a well-known figure through her daughters’ success. Mary Mary, which consists of Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell, brought attention not only to their music but also to their family life, including their mother. She made appearances on the show Black Love and was featured in multiple episodes of the reality series Mary Mary, which showcased the lives of her two famous daughters.
Before stepping into the spotlight, Miss Honey was deeply involved in ministry and music. She served as an evangelist and choir director at the Church of God in Christ long before her daughters rose to fame. Her dedication to faith and music has been a strong influence on her family’s career path.
Miss Honey is also the mother of nine children, one of whom is Goo-Goo Atkins. Throughout the career of Mary Mary, more than half of her children have sung together on various musical projects, highlighting the family’s deep connection to gospel music.
Although her full name is Thomasina “Honey” Atkins, most people know and refer to her as Miss Honey, a name that reflects both respect and affection from those who admire her and her family’s contributions to music and faith.
She experienced the heartbreaking loss of one of her children, who passed away at the age of six due to complications from Down syndrome and heart issues. Through this tragedy, she found the strength she needed to continue supporting and raising her other children. In addition to her personal journey, she played a key role in launching the My Black Is Beautiful Program during Black History Month, a meaningful initiative that resonated deeply with her values and experiences.
