Born Sean Combs, though famously recognized as Diddy, P. Diddy, or Puff Daddy, he is a Grammy Award-winning hip-hop icon. His debut album, No Way Out, achieved an impressive 7x platinum status, while his heartfelt track, “I’ll Be Missing You,” soared to the top of the Billboard charts. In 2013, Forbes magazine hailed him as the wealthiest figure in the hip-hop industry.
Before rising to fame, Diddy faced a challenging upbringing in a public housing project. Tragedy struck early when his father was killed due to his association with notorious drug trafficker Frank Lucas. In 1993, he welcomed his first son, Justin Combs, with his former girlfriend, hip-hop fashion stylist Misa Hylton. Later, he had another son, Christian Casey Combs, with his girlfriend at the time, actress and model Kim Porter. Diddy’s son Justin eventually pursued a football career at UCLA. In addition to his sons, Diddy is also the proud father of three daughters—D’Lila, Chance, and Jessie.
He was the mastermind behind MTV’s Making the Band, a show that launched several music careers, and his influence in the industry reached new heights when he took home a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group thanks to the hit track “Shake Ya Tailfeather.” His work not only shaped television but also left a lasting mark on hip-hop, proving time and again that he knew exactly how to bring talent to the forefront. And let’s be honest—winning a Grammy like that? That kind of success doesn’t come easy, but he made it look effortless. He truly had a gift for identifying stars and creating moments that defined a generation.
