An American criminal who gained notoriety as a key member of the Barrow Gang, he is most recognized for joining forces with the infamous duo Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. Prior to his life of crime, he relocated to Dallas in the early 1920s and became deeply involved in cockfighting circles. As the elder sibling of the Barrow Gang’s notorious leader, Clyde Barrow, his path into a life of lawlessness was heavily influenced by family ties.
He was involved in intense shootouts in Joplin, Missouri, and later in Alma, Arkansas—events that tragically resulted in the deaths of three police officers. He showed up in the middle of these violent confrontations, and unfortunately, the situation escalated quickly both times. He didn’t act alone, but his presence was a key factor in the chaos that unfolded. In Joplin, things went south fast, and then again in Alma, where the gunfire left a devastating toll.
