He was the winner of the 1964 PGA Championship and also achieved an impressive 12 victories on the PGA Tour throughout his career. Before he rose to fame, he faced a life-altering challenge when he was seriously injured in a car accident during his college years. As a result of the accident, he was paralyzed from the waist down for a full two weeks. He was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, where he developed his passion for golf and began his journey toward becoming a celebrated professional athlete.
He was honored with a golf course at the Waverly Park Country Club in Louisville, Kentucky, being named in his honor.
