A New York woman best known as the devoted wife and trusted assistant of the legendary escape artist Harry Houdini, she became a key figure in preserving his legacy after his unexpected passing in October 1926. Prior to stepping into the spotlight as Houdini’s partner, she showcased her talents as a singer and dancer with a performance group known as The Floral Sisters. Born Wilhelmina Beatrice Rahner, she came from a modest background—her father, Gebhard, worked as a cabinet maker. Her life took a dramatic turn when she met Houdini, and together they became one of the most recognized duos in the world of magic and illusion. After his death, she made it her mission to honor his memory and ensure his contributions to the art of escape would never be forgotten.
She appeared as herself in the 1938 movie “Religious Racketeers,” which was directed by Frank O’Conner.
