He was an American former professional basketball player who spent his career with the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA from 1980 to 1988. During his time in the league, he was selected as a two-time NBA All-Star and was part of the championship-winning team with the 76ers in 1983.
Before he became well-known in the basketball world, he graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in Lafayette in 1980. Later on, his son, Channing, also followed in his footsteps by playing NCAA Division I basketball at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
He played a key role on the 1982-83 76ers team that captured the championship, consistently putting up around 20 points per game. He shared the court with standout teammates like Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Bobby Jones, and Maurice Cheeks during that historic season. Unfortunately, his time in the league came to an early end after just seven seasons due to persistent foot injuries that hampered his career.
